Adaptation to Corona May

- Shortly summarize what the core of your project was.


To investigate the interplay between creator, medium and consumer in interactive art (games).



- Give insight in how you are going to adapt the core of your concept to the scenario you are following.


As my CPE has already passed, I am only working on showing what I did there in the best way possible. My initial concept will not need to change, only the ways of presenting it to iArts.



- Give insight into what the big changes are.


Originally, the games were designed to be played in person, and physical products were supposed to be distributed. Now, I'm trying to recreate the CPE for the digital CPEM, attempting to make the games (or at least their concepts) accessible via the internet.



- Give insight into what this means for your process.


This means that (where possible), the games now need to be digitized or made available via other means (e.g. print-at-home playing card downloads). Some of the games therefore need to be changed structurally.



- Give insight into how you are dealing in your process with (a) partnership(s).


Thanks to the lack of printing costs, I now have some funds left to pay a professional designer (thatapproached me at my CPE) for updated visuals that are better suited to the digital medium.Communication is now mostly happening via Zoom and E-Mail.

Partnerships with FiS e.V. and the Goethe University Board Game Club are currently on hold, as they are teams that only meet in person and would have to organize video sessions (or similar) inside their new schedules specifically for me. This is not that much of a hold-back, though, as the main phase of working with them has already passed (only missing end-stage physical game test rounds, which are now impossible to execute either way).



- Explain via which medium/online platform/digital form you will conduct your CPE and why this is the best medium in relation to your adapted concept.


I am using a Tumblr blog / website because it can easily incorporate different kinds of media. The Interactive Story will be available for download on itch.io and as a browser game created as an IF (Interactive Fiction) game rather than a physical CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure)-like book, which can be embedded / linked on the website.



- Give insight into your new vision on audience in this adapted track.


My CPE happened on location in Germany, attracting an audience that would likely be interested, but also formerly oblivious to my project. In that regard, adding this digital version is actually a good chance to also include people I have been in contact with via the internet, from all over the world. This new audience includes contributors to the collaborative aspects of some of the games, people that have seen my PR online and those who heard about me (or received my card) from one of my partners or at the WeltenWerker Konvent.



- Give insight into how you will deal with entrepreneurship in your adapted track.


Distrubution actually got a lot easier now, and donation-based purchases can happen via itch or the communal PR website.



- Shortly give insight in the possible threats of your track.


Some of the games don't translate that well to the digital medium. I'm afraid that I can't represent them well enough and the meaning will get lost.
